But his dream trip turned into a nightmare on February 4, 2024, when the car Vetri Duraisamy was traveling in plunged 200 meters down into the Satluj river near Kashang nullah in Kinnaur district. He was missing for nine days, until his body was finally recovered from the river on February 12, 2024, by a team of divers.
The accident that shook the nation
Vetri, along with his friend Gobinath, had come to visit Spiti Valley in the Lahaul-Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh. They were returning from Spiti towards Shimla in an Innova car driven by Tenzin, a resident of Tabo in Spiti.
