Career as an IAS Officer

Sandeep Poundrik decided to switch to the IAS and cleared the civil services examination in 1992. He was allotted the Bihar cadre and joined the service in 1993. He started his career as the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of Gopalganj and then became the District Magistrate (DM) of Madhubani. He also served as the DM of Patna, Nalanda and Muzaffarpur districts. He was known for his efficient administration, public welfare initiatives and disaster management skills.

Sandeep also held various positions in the state government, such as the Secretary of Energy, Planning and Development, Social Welfare, and Disaster Management departments. He was instrumental in implementing several schemes and projects for the development of Bihar, especially in the areas of power, education, health, social justice and disaster resilience. He also played a key role in the formation and functioning of the Bihar State Disaster Management Authority (BSDMA), which was established in 2007 after the devastating Kosi floods.

Career in the Central Government

Sandeep Poundrik also served in the central government on deputation. He was the Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas from 2016 to 2020, where he handled the exploration, production, refining and marketing of oil and gas in the country. Bihar Global Investors Summit: A Game Changer for the State’s Industrial Growth and Employment Generation

The Bihar Global Investors Summit, a two-day event that concluded on December 2023, was a grand success for the state government, as it attracted over 600 investors from across India and 15 other countries.
