The FIR was issued first against Rohit Ranjan by Congress MLA Devendra Yadav for promoting enmity between different groups and outraging the religious feelings of the Indian Citizen by telecasting a fake video of Rahul Gandhi on his show on Zee News.

Inside the original video, Rahul Gandhi was forgiving those who attacked his Wayand office and was calling them children. But this video was edited by the Zee News authorities and then telecasted on national television. The video was edited in such a way that Rahul Gandhi was seen exonerating the killers of Udaipur tailor Mr. Kanhaiya Lal.
Soon after the Fir was issued the two police teams from different cities that including Ghaziabad and Chattisgarh reached Ranjan’s house but when the Ghaziabad officer reached his house Ranjan was already taken into custody by Noida Police. Now he was released on bail.
