In 2023 he is representing the Congress party (INC). In the 2023 assembly election, Ravindra won against BJP candidate Hemant Rasane. He won this election after he was selected as the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) candidate for the Kasba Peth assembly constituency. He marked his big win on 2nd March 2023 and created history by defeating one of the strong candidates of the BJP. Since then Ravindra has become a popular personality in India. After winning his first election in 1997 with Shive Sena, Ravindra Dhangekar released that he can do big in politics. He has been selected as a corporator five times since he first won in 1997. His deep understanding of politics helped him in shifting to MNS easily in 2006 when Raj Thackeray formed his own party Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) 2006. In 2009 representing MNS he competed against BJP Leader Girish Bapat from Kasba Peth.
Next in 2014 he again competed from Kasba Peth against Bapat a BJP leader but did not win the assembly election.
In 2017 Ravindra joined Congress after quitting MNS. In 2017 he trended in the news as many said he will join BJP but he did not and later became part of Congress.
In 2017 he won as an Independent candidate later supported by Congress and defeated BJP Leader Ganesh Bidkar. After support from Congress, he agreed to be a part of the Congress Party. In 2022 he won the election against BJP Hemant Rasane representing Congress. And now on 2nd March 2023, Ravindra has won the assembly election proving himself once again.
