Watch Ponniyin Selvan movie online: After the release of Chekka Chivantha Vaanam movie in 2018 director, Mani Ratnam is now set to release his dream project Ponniyin Selvan on 30th September 2022. This movie is developed under a budget of more than 500 Crore INR.
It is an Epic period action film that will introduce the audience to the rule of the great emperor Rajaraja Chola of the Chola dynasty from 947 CE – 1014 CE.
The complete story of the movie is an adaption of the novel of Ponniyin Selvan written in 1955 by Kalki Krishnamurthy. The entire story of this movie will end in two different cinematic parts and Ponniyin Selva: I part will be released on 30th September.
Ponniyin Selvan Synopsis, Production (Facts)
It was the year 1958 when M.G Ramchandran bought the rights of the novel Ponniyin Selvan to make a movie on it. But Ramachandran met with an accident and it took six months for him to heal but even after it he didn’t begin the shooting of the movie.
Then in 1994, Mani Ratnam shared his interest to make a movie on this novel. But it took many years for Mani Ratnam to direct and film this story.
After a long struggle and difficulties, Mani Ratnam re-start working and signed actor Vijay for the lead role of Aditya Karikalan. Mahesh Babu was also signed in 2010 for a major role in this movie. But in 2010 production house remained unsuccessful in getting permission to shoot in Mysore Palace and Lalitha Mahal. Even the team didn’t get permission to shoot in different Temple of Tamil Nadu. Then shooting got stopped and Mani Ratnam began to find a suitable place for the story as it was out of budget to make a set in which we will experience the era of the Chola Dynasty.
Later Mani Ratnam announce that the shooting will take place in Thailand as the jungle and temples available there provided the same experience as the Chola Dynasty of the 10th century. Finally in December 2019 shooting of the movie began in Thailand and wrapped up its first schedule after 40 days.
The second schedule of shooting began in January 2020 and was completed within a week. And then the third and final schedule began on 6th January 2021. And now finally it is all set to release in the month of September 2022.
