Mahua Moitra (born 12th October 1974, age: 47 years) is a politician, TMC leader and Member of Parliament from India. She is popular for her successful career in politics. Since she got involved in high-level politics she has created many controversies that have diverted the audience towards her and made her a winner of the 17th Lok Sabha election from Kirshnanagar, West Bengal constituency. Previously she has also served as a general secretary and national spokesperson for the AITC.

She was speaking in front of an audience at the India Today Conclave East and spoke something related to the short movie “Kaali” movie poster. The movie poster has been previously introduced to the audience in which goddess Kali has been showcased smoking a cigarette which is not appropriate according to Hindu Sanatan Religion.
But Moitra Spoke out that “Kaali to me is a meat-eating, alcohol-accepting goddess. You have the freedom to imagine your goddess. There are some places where whiskey is offered to gods and in some other places it would be blasphemy.”
Since she releases this statement a high-profile controversy got raised.
Her party All India Trinamool Congres also issued a statement “Her views expressed on Goddess Kali have been made in her personal capacity and are not endorsed by the party in any manner or form”.
The controversy did not stop here as after her statement an FIR has been filed against Moitra by the Bengal BJP party candidates in Kolkata.

Mahua Moitra Career- Politician
Mahua before joining politics use to work as an investment banker for JPMorgan Chase in New York City and London. She quit her this investment banker job in 2009 and enter politics. She first joined the Youth Congress and became Rahul Gandhi’s favorite politician. She was one of the trusted hands of Rahul Gandhi during the project “Aam Admi ka Sipahi”.
Later she moved to the All India Trinamool Congress Party in 2010. She won the election while representing her All Indian Trinamool Congress party. She got elected from the Karimpur constituency in Nadia district after getting the majority of 15989 votes. This win made her a Member of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly and she served in this position till 23 May 2019.
On 23rd May 2019, she joined as a Member of Parliament after winning a majority of 63218 votes from the Kirshnanagar constituency. Last year on 13th November 2021 she got appointed TMC part’s Goa-in-charge to prepare the party for contesting the next Goa Legislative Assembly election in 2022. While representing at political rallies she usually spoke about matters related to education, employment, and youth empowerment.
