Career, Political Party & Elections
From Fahad Ahmad’s Facebook handle, we got to know that he did his internship at the Amrit Foundation of India in 2015. From 2017-2018, he was the General Secretary at the Tata Institute of Social Sciences Students Union. Currently, he is the Senior Research Fellow at Tata Institute of Social Sciences since May 2016. In 2013, he founded a Relief camp in Muzaffarnagar along with Faisal Khan called ‘SOCH beyond the imagination’.

JNU Controversy
According to Mid-Day.com, Fahad Ahmad, a student leader, claims that the institute halted his Ph.D. registration after he led a protest in 2018 against the removal of aid for backward students.
The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) students who protested the removal of financial aid for SC/ST students appear to be facing the repercussions of their actions. Following the suspension of his registration for the Ph.D. program, M.Phil. student Fahad Ahmad now asserts that TISS is hindering his academic career. He also said in an interview with Mid-day that:-
they sent him a letter about his registration being put on hold after I approached them multiple times about my Ph.D. registration. I’ve been waiting for my registration even though the new academic year has been over for more than a month. According to the letter, my enrollment in the Ph.D. program will depend on the findings of an inquiry committee.”
Ahmad wonders if this is being done to silence the voices of students. It is evident that they are preventing a deserving student’s academic development. I am eligible for Ph.D. registration because I have met all academic requirements. We are forced to ask if TISS is following in the footsteps of Hyderabad Central University (HCU) and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in their efforts to silence student voices. Ahmad’s registration is now contingent on the committee’s findings.
Activism & Participation in Rallies
Fahad has also participated in anti-CAA protests as a politician and leader. According to Wikipedia, Ahmad led a demonstration against the rollback of the fee waiver for students from Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and other backward classes during his time as general secretary of the TISS Student Union in 2017–2018. The demonstration was attended by over a thousand students. Students also received support in this regard from Prakash Ambedkar.
As per Wikipedia, Ahmad attended a number of rallies throughout India and participated in anti-CAA demonstrations in Mumbai.
