This all happened because Einaz competed at IFSC Asia- Continental Championship without wearing Hijab (headscarf). Netizens and supporters of the Anti-Hijab movement began calling her a heroine.
Though Elnaz Rekabi may have broken the strict rule for Iranian sportswomen to wear a scarf while competing internationally. But in her interview, she cleared her point and stated that she forgot to wear a scarf (hijab) when she went to compete. After she give this strong excuse followers of the Anti-Hijab movement stated that she gave this statement under pressure and threats from the government that she may have received after the incident.
I was suddenly and unexpectedly called on to compete while I was at the women’s locker room,” she said.
I was busy wearing my shoes and fixing my equipment and forgot to wear my hijab, which I should have worn.”

Beginning her rock climbing career Elnaz Rekabi began her training in 2002. She played her first international event in 2007. To date she has competed in IFSC Climbing World Championships, Asian Continental Championship, IFSC Climbing World Cup, Asia Cup, Asian Championships, Anoc World Beach Games, International Climbing series, IFSC Combines Qualifier, and at IFSC Asia- Continental Championships.
