In 2000, Evans landed her first major Hollywood role in the Disney film 102 Dalmatians, playing the villainous Cruella de Vil’s assistant. It was on the set of this film that she met her future husband, Ioan Gruffudd, who played the love interest of the protagonist.

Marriage & Divorce with Ioan Gruffudd
Evans and Gruffudd dated for six years before getting married in September 2007 in Mexico. They have two daughters, Ella (born in 2009) and Elsie (born in 2013).

In January 2021, Evans announced on Twitter that Gruffudd had left her and their children, saying that he “no longer loves me”. She later deleted the tweet and issued a joint statement with Gruffudd, saying that they were going through “an incredibly difficult time” and asking for privacy.
In March 2021, Gruffudd filed for divorce from Evans, citing irreconcilable differences. He also requested joint legal and physical custody of their children. Evans claimed that she was blindsided by the divorce and that Gruffudd had been having a three-year affair with his girlfriend, Bianca Wallace, who was her friend.
Controversies
Evans also accused Gruffudd of “gaslighting” and “mentally torturing” her, and said that he had cut off all communication with her and their children. She also alleged that Wallace had abused her daughter Ella, who filed a restraining order against Gruffudd and Wallace in January 2022. However, the restraining order was denied by a judge, who found no evidence of domestic violence.
Evans has been vocal about her divorce and her feelings on social media, often posting emotional messages and videos on Instagram and Twitter. She has also criticized Gruffudd for his lack of support and involvement in their children’s lives and accused him of trying to sell their family home without her consent.

Gruffudd, on the other hand, has remained mostly silent about the divorce and his relationship with Wallace. He has only issued a few statements through his lawyers, denying Evans’ allegations and asking for respect and privacy. He has also obtained a restraining order against Evans, prohibiting her from making negative comments about him and Wallace online or in the media.
As of June 2023, Evans and Gruffudd have not settled their custody battle or their financial issues. Their divorce was finalized on July 3, 2023, after a Los Angeles judge declared them legally single.
In January 2023, Evans faced charges over allegedly breaching her restraining order on two counts. She pleaded not guilty to the charges, and the prosecutors later dropped them, saying that they were unable to proceed with the case. Evans thanked her fans for their support and said that things were going well for her and her children.
In 2017, following a slew of sexual assault allegations against film producer Harvey Weinstein, Evans claimed that 15 years prior, in 2002, Weinstein had made sexual advances towards her, which she declined. Evans said that Weinstein insinuated that her rejection would affect her and Gruffudd’s careers.
