Career- Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh
It is stated that before joining high-level politics Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu use to run a small milk counter in Shimla. Beginning a political career in his college he did well. In 1981 he became a General Secretary in College. He then became the President of NSUI in 1983.
Later when he began performing as a Lawyer he got selected as the Law Department Representative of HPU from 1985 to 1986.
Serving in different positions Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu became Municipal Corporation Shimla Councilor Two times that is from 1992-1997 and 1997-2002. Becoming a Conciliar changed so many things in Sukhwinder’s life. And he then never looked back. Moving further his name was announced as the President of the Congress Party in 2013.
He also got elected to State Legislative Assembly thrice that is in 2003, 2007, and then in 2017. And finally, on December 2022 he became a Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh.

Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu married his wife Kamlesh Thakur on 11th June 1998. After his marriage, he gave birth to his two lovely daughters. His one daughter’s name is Ruhun Thakur and his second daughter’s name is Kamun Thakur.
His daughters are now completing a high-level education in a government college. Along with completing education Sukhwinder’s daughters also handle some political work of their father.
His daughter Kamun Thakur is an alumnus of Delhi University where she is completing her degree in LLB since July 2021. His daughter Kamun Thakur is now a Member of the Legal Services Society. She completed her small law internship in October 2022.
Earlier Kamun performed as a Head of the Department at Public Policy and Analysis Cell, Jesus and Mary College for 1 year. Sukhwinder Singh’s wife Mrs. Kamlesh Thakur is also active in helping her husband in various political meets.
