Who Is Misook Nowlin?
Misook was born in South Korea and had a difficult childhood after losing her mother. She met her first husband, Andy Nowlin, an American soldier stationed in South Korea, and followed him to the United States in 1988. They married and had a daughter, but their relationship soon fell apart due to Misook’s infidelity and materialism. They divorced after 10 years of marriage.

Misook then worked as a translator and met her second husband, Don Wang, at her workplace. They married in 2003 and Misook became close to Don’s mother, Linda Tyda, a Chinese immigrant who also worked as an interpreter. How Did Misook Kill Linda Tyda?
On September 5, 2011, Linda Tyda went missing after leaving her home to meet a prospective client in Bloomington, Illinois. Her husband, Larry Tyda, reported her disappearance to the police, who traced her phone to a cell tower in Bloomington. They also learned that the client was Misook Nowlin, who had called Linda the day before and arranged to meet her.
Surveillance footage showed that Misook and Linda met at a restaurant and had an argument before leaving in their separate cars. Misook then drove to her sewing shop, followed by Linda. There, Misook attacked Linda and strangled her to death. She then stuffed her body in a plastic container and drove to a remote area in Wisconsin, where she buried her in a shallow grave.
Misook Nowlin returned to Illinois and pretended to be worried about Linda’s whereabouts. She even helped Don and Larry search for her and contacted the police to offer information. However, her lies were exposed when a waitress from the restaurant where she met Linda came forward and told the police what she had overheard. The police searched Misook’s shop and found Linda’s shredded identification and credit cards in a trash bin. They also found traces of Linda’s blood and DNA on the plastic container and a rope.
Misook was arrested and interrogated by the police, who confronted her with the evidence. She eventually confessed to killing Linda and led them to her body. She claimed that she acted in self-defense after Linda attacked her with a knife. She also said that she was angry with Linda for ruining her marriage and interfering with her life. She pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and was sentenced to 55 years in prison in 2012.

Is Nowlin Linked to Christina McNeil’s Death?
Christina McNeil was a 3-year-old girl who was found dead in her bed on June 16, 1998, in Bloomington, Illinois. Her father, Barton McNeil, was the only one at home with her that night. He told the police that he had put her to bed around 9 p.m. and then fell asleep himself. He woke up around 6 a.m. and found her lifeless and cold. He called 911 and performed CPR, but it was too late.
The police initially ruled Christina’s death as natural, as there were no signs of trauma or foul play. However, an autopsy revealed that she had been suffocated and sexually assaulted. The police then focused on Barton as the prime suspect, as he had a history of drug abuse and mental illness. They also found his semen and blood on Christina’s bedsheet and pillowcase, which he claimed were from a previous sexual encounter with his girlfriend.

Barton’s girlfriend at the time was Misook Nowlin, whom he had met in 1997 and dated for about a year. They had broken up a few days before Christina’s death, after Barton discovered that Misook was cheating on him with another man. Barton accused Misook of killing Christina out of jealousy and revenge, as she had threatened to harm him and his daughter before. He also said that Misook had a key to his apartment and could have sneaked in while he was asleep.
However, the police did not believe Barton’s story and arrested him for Christina’s murder. They argued that he had killed his daughter in a fit of rage or under the influence of drugs, and then tried to blame Misook to cover up his crime. They also said that Misook had an alibi for the night of the murder, as she was with her new boyfriend and had phone records to prove it. Misook denied any involvement in Christina’s death and testified against Barton at his trial.
Barton was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison without parole in 1999. He maintained his innocence and appealed his conviction several times, but his efforts were unsuccessful. He also contacted various innocence projects and media outlets to draw attention to his case and expose Misook’s role in Christina’s death.
The petition is still pending in court, and Barton is still in prison, waiting for a chance to clear his name and get justice for his daughter. Misook is also in prison, serving her sentence for Linda’s murder. She has not commented on Barton’s allegations or Christina’s case.
Misook Nowlin is a woman who has been involved in two murders, one of which she has admitted to and one of which she has denied. She is currently behind bars for killing her mother-in-law, Linda Tyda, in 2011, but she may also be responsible for the death of her ex-boyfriend’s daughter, Christina McNeil, in 1998. Her ex-boyfriend, Barton McNeil, who was convicted of Christina’s murder, has been fighting to prove his innocence and implicate Misook as the real killer.
