Madhya Pradesh Announces Complete Seven Day Lockdown in Bhopal Till April 19

Madhya Pradesh, 13 April 2021 – Amid a surge in the number of Coronavirus cases in Bhopal, the Madhya Pradesh government has decided to impose a lockdown in the capital to the 19th of April. However, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has ruled out a complete lockdown for now.
After Chhattisgarh Raipur announced a week-long full lockdown. Madhya Pradesh’s capital Bhopal has followed the same.
The city has gone into a strict lockdown till April 19. This following a surge in its Covid tally. The decision comes after the city that was reporting cases in double digits still early March certainly saw nearly 1000 cases daily in a month. Bhopal is the second-worst affected district in the state after the Indoor. For a few hours before the lockdown kicked in. There was panic as people rushed to stock up.

After the poor handling of the crisis in the state, the Madhya Pradesh government sagged stage Health Commissioner Dr. Sanjay Goyal. With more cases cropping up hospitals are stretched. Crematoriums in Bhopal are swamped with bodies. For now, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has ruled out the possibility of a statewide lockdown.
But like other states that have been hit severely in the latest wave, the option of a total lockdown is very much open. And that entirely depends on how the public behaves.
