Delhi High Court Dismisses Plea Seeking Suspension Of Central Vista Project

New Delhi – Delhi High Court has dismissed a plea seeking direction to suspend all construction activity of the central Vista Avenue redevelopment project, because of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. The court imposed rupees one lakh fine on petitioners and say that it is a motivated plea, It was not a PIL.
This PIL said that, because of the coronavirus pandemic, this project can become a super spread event of COVID cases. The construction has to be stopped so that the worker there can be safe. It did not exactly talk about the money aspect or the diversion of the entire funds from one avenue to the other.
And the need for the center Vista project at this point. And because of all of that the Delhi High Court dismissed the plea said that motivated Plea and that’s why they’ve imposed a fine of rupees one lakh on the petitioner saying that this is not a PIL but a motivated plea.
First of all, there are a couple of other petitions in place in the supreme court as well, on the central Vista project. Other than that, what we need to know the focus is the timing of it.
No one saying that there is not a need to expand the parliament or make our government facilities better. But there is a time and there is an there’s an optics to it. Maybe in the middle of the worst pandemic in over 100 years, maybe in the middle of when the entire country is struggling for oxygen and vaccines.
This shouldn’t have been the priority of the central government. And that’s what the opposition parties are talking about and there is a sentiment that is growing among the general public as well as because this does not seem to be necessary at this moment.
We could have done this at a later time. We could have held this off at a later time because of the amount of money that has been spent over 20,000 crore rupees being spent on this while the entire country is struggling to get even one dose of vaccine and suddenly to get you proper oxygen.
This isn’t the time for that. So certainly questions being raised also the questions being raised are on the natural heritage of the currently held government buildings which are being raised and Why does the Prime Minister’s residence need to be moved at such a breakneck pace and why the PM needs residence which is triple the size of what he’s currently living in.
And all of this again, you know comes at a time when India is undergoing the worst pandemic, over 100 years, India struggling for basic medical infrastructure. While the government seems to be focusing on its central VISTA project.
