Karnataka Govt Issues An Order to Reserve 75% Beds For Covid Treatment

Bengaluru, 26 April 2021 – Karnataka issues an order to private medical colleges as KS Private medical colleges to reserve 75% of beds for COVID treatment. This is what we are getting to know as of now, medical order for the medical colleges and reserves 75% beds for private treatment. This is a shot in the arm as far as the cases in Karnataka are concerned, and given the fact that Bangalore and other areas of the state are also reeling under severe COVID-19 conditions.
This particular step and several others, which has come from the Karnataka government side must be commended, and also asking now an innovative approach to the medical colleges to keep the beds reserved for 75% of the beds for COVID-19 patients. The preparations are not just limited to a state level, but also the central government is leaving no stone unturned.
The medical system is overwhelmed with the number of cases that have been coming up almost on daily basis. Yesterday Karnataka, a total of 30,000 cases, 20,000 cases coming only from Bengaluru alone, this has left the health department grappling with many issues and to tackle that one such order was issued this morning by the Chief Secretary, where the order clearly states that 75% of the beds in medical colleges, where all medical colleges as a prerequisite will have a hospital attached to it and in these hospitals, 75% beds should be reserved for treatment.

There has been a talk about this by the Health Minister Dr. Sudhakar, who has suggested that 80% of beds in all hospitals should be reserved for COVID. There is no decision in that direction. But this is an important point coming out this morning 75% of beds in all the government-run, private institutions and medical colleges to reserve beds for Covid treatment only.
Now, this decision comes just hours before Karnataka is preparing for major lockdown, that’s what our sources tell us. Sources telling us that in the afternoon, there might be a discussion with the Technical Advisory Committee which has been demanding a lockdown. Now we are also told that Dr. Sudhakar has been heavily now camping for clampdown or lockdown for at least a week.
And this decision will be announced very shortly. Shortly after the cabinet meeting is over. So many decisions are being taken to the Karnataka government to tackle the COVID when as one such was this order to reserve 75% beds for Covid patients in medical colleges and institutions.
