Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, 17 April 2021 – Former IPL Champions Chennai Super Kings are back on track with a victory against Punjab Kings. Deepak Chahar produced a dream spell in which he got four wickets to help Punjab restrict to 106/8. That didn’t turn out to be a huge challenge for the Super Kings who did lose a couple of wickets earlier closer to victory but eventually made it home.
A dream delivery from Deepak Chahar had Mayank Agarwal all end up with that was just the beginnings. Next over from Chahar and Ravindra Jadeja direct hit found KL Rahul short of his crease. Chahar broke Punjab Kings’ backbone with a slower one to get rid of Chris Gayle.
After this, Deepak removes Nicholas Pooran a couple of balls later. Punjab was reeling at 26 for 5 wickets after the powerplay with Chahar finishing with figures of 4 wickets for 13 runs. Cricketer Shahrukh Khan’s 47 runs allowed Punjab kings to post 106/8 and their bowlers had at least something to bowled at.
But that target was just too easy for the Chennai Super Kings. Faf du Plessis got himself among some runs, with Moeen Ali scoring Another useful knock of 46 runs.
Chennai did lose a couple of wickets close to the victory. But then the target wasn’t too much as they made it home eventually.
