BCCI Announced India vs England Last Three T20Is To Be Played Without Audience

The remaining matches in the ongoing T20 series between India and England will be played without spectators. The third, fourth, and fifth matches of the series which is currently tied one all of which are 16th, 18th, and 20th will be played without an audience at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

This decision is made after the last match. Everybody commented on how they were massive crowds and no one was wearing a mask or any sort of social distancing at the matches. There were about 55,000 people inside the Narendra Modi stadium on that evening and there was no mask no social distancing.

Though the protocols do say that one has to wear masks but the crowd inside the stadium was clearly celebrating India’s win. The BCCI together with the Gujarat Cricket Association has taken the decision of banning crowds from the stadium.

It’s not only these three matches the three T20Is, but also the ODI matches that will be played later in the series on 23rd, 26th, and 28th, which will all be played in Maharashtra in Pune. That will have no crowds in the stadium. This means is that the people who could get back the fans could get back to the stadium post COVID from the second test in Chennai will now once again have to wait.

It is still not known whether this is going to impact the Indian Premier League that will start in India on the 9th of April. But as of now given the rise in cases, it seems BCCI might decide on putting the players in a bio bubble and going in with a template that they had devised during the IPL last year in the UAE.

Of course, for these three T20 games, the fans will get a refund for their tickets. There will be an advisory which will be laid out for them on the association Gujarat Cricket Association website. Fans who have bought their tickets have to go to that website to claim their refund.
